Do You Or Someone You Love Have Diabetes? These Tips Are For You

The important thing to remember if you have diabetes is that this is a disease of which you can stay in complete control as long as you know how. Make sure you take the time to read the tips below to find out how you can work to control your diabetes. A few minutes of your day will go a long way.

If you suffer from diabetes, take excellent care of your teeth and dental hygiene. Visit your dentist and hygienist regularly for cleanings and examinations to make sure any early stages of gum disease are diagnosed and treated quickly. Also, be sure to brush and floss carefully and monitor your gums and mouth for any sores or abrasions.

If you're diagnosed with Diabetes or pre-Diabetes, why does the doctor prescribe exercise and lower sugar intake? It's because doing these things can often cure Diabetes! If you are exercising and eating a healthier diet, your body can process sugar better - thus lessening the ability of Diabetes to take over your life.

One of the leading causes of Type II diabetes is the over consumption of soda. Soda has a high amount of sugar, and many people just don't realize just how much they consume (ridiculously large cups sizes are a factor!). Drinking large amounts everyday soon begins to have a toll on our bodies, and this may be hidden for some time. If you are one of the millions of Americans that drink soda everyday, the simple change of limiting your consumption to one small serving daily, can save your health and extend your life by many years.

It is important for you to wear a medical alert bracelet if you are a diabetic. If something happens to you and you need to get medical care but are unconscious the paramedics will know what products to and not to give you. It could be a life saving piece of jewelry.

When living with diabetes, keep your insulin supply stored at room temperature in the home. It is not necessary to refrigerate it and cold insulin is more painful to inject. Insulin injections themselves should not be painful as the needles used are quite thin. And of course, always make sure the needles and insulin are kept well out of reach of any children.

Of course, while it only takes a few minutes to read these tips, it may take a long time to properly apply them so that you're experiencing the best possible results. Do not let diabetes deter you. It may be an ongoing battle, but it is a battle you can win as long as you're using information like what you have learned here.
